Winter Wonderland

Here I am 39w2d and it is a blizzard outside. Literally, a blizzard. I have lived in Maryland since 1997 and there has only ever been one blizzard and a handful of memorable snowstorms.

I joked to friends and family yesterday that it would be ironic and funny if Ralphie, my little snowbaby that spent 2 years in a freezer, arrived during this storm. I am rescinding my invite! Mama was just kidding!!!

It is beautiful out there, but conditions are just awful. We have 8-10 inches so far with no end in sight. They are calling for up to 30 inches! We had Sean's holiday party last night and it took us 2 hours to get home. There were really bad accidents everywhere and I was a nervous wreck. We're not in Buffalo any more kids! These Marylanders do not handle this weather well at all!

My birthing center is only 15min away under normal conditions, but I am thinking it would take us an hour plus today and who knows how long for the midwives and nurses...

I think I might like Ralphie to stay put for at least another day! Sean is shoveling just in case.
In the mean time, I am making a pot of sauce, a pan of ziti and some brownies.

In honor of Ralphie, we will be watching A Christmas Story later!

East Coasters - stay safe and warm!

I'm down in Charlottesville and we got about 20 inches. It's still snowing, but it's supposed to be about done.

Hope your snowbaby holds on a while longer. :)

I lived in MD from 1993 to 1995 and the first year we had 13 days of ice storms, and the next year, one blizzard. MD is totally unpredictable in that way! Do you have 4w drive? Can you borrow one for the weekend? I hope Ralphie arrives just when he/she ought to!

I'm laughing b/c the night I gave birth to my daughter< I had made a pot of sauce, homemade ravioli and brownie sundaes (I was hungry lol) and after all that I went in to labor! So that might just happen to you...sending my best! BTW, I am from Erie, PA and you are right b/ we get around fine in all this snow! Kids still have school, no one misses work!

hold on baby, just a day or two more! If your birth center is like mine, they make you labor at home for a long time anyway!
I am from MD and can't stand how awfully people drive in snow, oh my.

I'm in NJ and our snow just began a couple of hours ago and is projected to go for the next 24 hours. My cousin lives in D.C. and says she's got over 15 inches.

I love this weather more than anything!!!! So you will never hear anything but happiness from me.

As for Ralphie, I actually think it would be so cute and sweet if he did decide to pop out now because this weather is definitely oh-so-comfy-and-familiar to a frostie! :)

I'm in Northern VA and have been following your blog since I started IVF - I am just a week behind you and know what it feels like to be trapped at home in this beautiful storm. I'm delivering at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington - but, live in Reston ;-) So, I've been having long talks with baby about hanging in there a while longer.
Good luck to you!

The snow looks just gorgeous. I miss it out here in CA, but I guess I'm glad I don't have to worry about how I would get to the hospital!! Hoping Ralphie stays put for at least another couple of days. But no more than that, of course! :)

I live in Northern Virginia and we got 21 inches! The roads are better today so hang on and keep that baby cookin'!

Oh wow, I don't blame you for wanting that baby to stay where it is. Just a little longer or atleast until the roads are cleared. You'll have to update again soon so we know it didn't happen yet.

I hope you enjoyed your ziti and movie, That sounds yummie!
