FET Madness - Day 20 - Still Growing

Transfer was a no-go for today. When we called to check in the embryologist said she was "on the fence" and wanted another look at them. She called us back 45 minutes later and said we would wait until tomorrow to transfer.

We had 1 fully formed blast but she said the quality was "mediocre." We also have 2 early blasts that she said showed promise. The remaining 3 have shown some progress, but they are not expecting much.

She feels that by waiting until day 6, we will have the full picture and hopefully a better selection of the blasts and some good quality stand outs.

I asked if this was a bad thing and she said, "Not at all. Day 6 is a common transfer day for FETs. The embryos can be slow to wake up as a result of the trauma of freezing."

I asked if we run the risk of losing them in the next 24 hours and she promised me a blast to transfer tomorrow. That is totally out of her control, but I do trust her!

That was about the extent of things. I call tomorrow @ 10am to chat with Dr. P about how many to put in and transfer is scheduled for 11:30!

Sean is excited that he gets to celebrate his birthday by bringing "home" the embies and having a stay at home day :)

I managed to score a haircut and pedi for today - treating myself to some spoiling! We have family coming in for Easter so I have some loose ends to tie up anyway. Looks to be a busy day after all! Thanks for all the support and good vibes!

Grow little ones, grow!

Sorry you didn't get to transfer today, but it sure sounds like she's got your best interests at heart. Hang in there!

Hope you're hanging in there -- it's so hard to wait for the updates about your little blasties!! Thinking good thoughts for a fab transfer tomorrow.

Grow! Grow! Grow! Thinking of you all.

Do you think it would help if we knitted some little scarves and booties for the embies to help them warm up faster? :-)

I've been following your story for a while, came here through Sticks and Stims. It was only today that I noticed you live in Maryland. There is a group of us IF chicks (20 or so) that get together once a month for dinner or drinks or whatnot. If you are interested in joining us sometime, we'd love to meet you!

I don't know why but I haven't commented on your page in a while. Congrats on the embys. I will send prayers their way. GROW LITTLE ONES GROW.

I have definitely heard that day 6 is well within norm for an FET! Sounds like they are really looking out to make the best opportunity for you!!

P.S. My two blasts that were biopsied for microarray testing were biopsied on day 6 and I've been asking the same question and have been reassured a few times by our embryologist and other people that day 6 is normal and is fine.

Emily dear, I really cannot imagine the extent of this madness in waiting and preparing... But, you seem very positive and excited in this latets post, and I'm sending you all kinds of great energies for healthy growing blasts and a smooth transfer. Good thing you are spoiling yourself a little. At least you are going to have a nice pedi to stare at with your feet in the air for the next few days!
big hugs and good, good luck!

I'm literally sitting on my couch chanting, "GROW, GROW, GROW!!!" I hope you have a wonderful transfer day tomorrow. And what good luck to do the transfer on Sean's b'day. We found out we were having twins on Omar's birthday -- maybe it's a good omen!

Grow, guys grow! I always seem to read frozen transfers are six days often. I think they sound amazing to me and I can't wait to hear more. Loving your story- I know it will have a happy ending for you.

There is something for you on my blog. :)
